Whoever said “necessity is the mother of invention” probably didn’t expect TV reporters to be putting condoms up to their mouths in the middle of live hurricane coverage but, that’s exactly what happened!

Kyla Galer is practicing safe reporting while in Florida covering Hurricane Ian – proudly promoting latex protection for microphones while out in the field.

As Kyla points out to curious viewers … “It is what you think it is. It’s a condom. We can’t get these mics wet … so, we gotta do what we gotta do.”

Kyla is taking a pounding down in the Naples area, just south of where Ian’s eye came onshore Wednesday.
