A military jet crashed with another jet in the middle of a race that was part of an air show in Nevada — killing one pilot.
A video of the event shows the red plane – an Aero L-29 Delfin – quickly losing altitude Sunday during the Reno Air Races while racing with another jet, and then bursting into flames upon impact.
The pilot was confirmed dead at the crash site, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Reno Air Racing Association canceled the remainder of the event and is assisting in the investigation.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are also investigating.
