TMZ incorrectly claimed on Wednesday that Jerry Lee Lewis, the lead vocalist of “Great Balls of Fire,” had passed away at his Memphis, Tennessee, home.

Lewis, 87, is a renowned pianist, noted for his exciting concerts in which he occasionally used his feet to play the piano.

“Jerry Lee Lewis is not dead … as we previously reported,” TMZ reported. “We’re told the rock n’ roll legend is alive, living in Memphis. Earlier today we were told by someone claiming to be Lewis’ rep that he had passed. That turned out not to be the case.”

“TMZ regrets the error,” the publication added.

The rumors probably started since the adored artist had recently struggled with health difficulties.

Lewis seemed flimsy and ill in a Facebook post from his official profile.

Jerry Lee Lewis was eventually admitted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, according to the post from October 19. The sickness kept the great Jerry Lee from attending the ceremony.

“His longtime dear friend Kris Kristofferson accepted in his honor from Hank Williams Jr. and Kris and his wife Lisa were nice enough to drive down to Memphis and present it to Jerry Lee in person.”

Lee then said in a message to his fans, “It is with heartfelt sadness and disappointment that I write to you today from my sick bed, rather than be able to share my thoughts in person.

“I tried everything I could to build up the strength to come today – I’ve looked so forward to it since I found out about it earlier this year. My sincerest apologies to all of you for missing this fine event, but I hope to see you all soon.”

Lee first broke out into the music scene with his hit “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” in 1957.

This month, President Joe Biden took additional measures to grant pardons to those who have been found guilty on a federal level of simple marijuana possession. Some saw the action, which affected around 6,500 individuals, as an effort to win over the president’s socialist Democratic followers. However, a high-ranking White House representative assured the media that no Americans were being held for basic marijuana possession.

The United States has legalized cannabis for recreational use in 19 states, and Germany is poised to follow suit. It will be one of just two European Union countries to do so.

Karl Lauterbach, the health minister, unveiled a paper detailing ideas for a related move on Wednesday. The proposed legislation would establish rules for the restricted distribution and use of cannabis for adult recreational use. The possession of up to 30 grams of recreational cannabis for personal use would also be permitted.

The idea, which was apparently accepted by the nation’s Federal Cabinet, still has to be submitted to the European Commission and subsequently lawmakers

Germany has previously taken action to change this. The most recent action was taken after the coalition government reached an agreement last year to introduce a bill allowing some retailers to carry marijuana. How long it will take for the plan to become law is unknown.

The only other nation in the European Union that has legalized marijuana is Malta, which makes American policy unique compared to that of Europe.

Guam, Washington, D.C., and 19 states in the US have all legalized marijuana usage for recreational purposes. When Coloradans approved a ballot initiative to legalize the drug’s sale and recreational use in 2012, Colorado became the first state to do so.

Kanye West is being sued by George Floyd’s family over remarks he made concerning the circumstances of Floyd’s death.

In spite of the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling Floyd’s death a homicide after former police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, West, who now goes by the name Ye, falsely claimed that Floyd died from fentanyl use on the podcast Drink Champs.

“Kanye’s comments are a repugnant attempt to discount George Floyd’s life and to profit from his inhumane death,” said Attorney Pat D. Dixon III, who is taking on the case for Floyd’s family. “We will hold Mr. West accountable for his flagrant remarks against Mr. Floyd’s legacy.”

The suit is being filed by Floyd’s mother Roxie Washington on behalf of Floyd’s only daughter, who is a minor. A statement from Dixon said the lawsuit against Ye is over “harassment, misappropriation, defamation and infliction of emotional distress seeking $250 million dollars in damages.”

The statement also says the family has issued a cease-and-desist letter to Ye for his comments. Representatives for Ye did not immediately respond to MarketWatch’s request for comment on this story.

Roy S. Gutterman, the director of the Tully Center for Free Speech at Syracuse University, told NPR on Wednesday that it’s unlikely the defamation claims will be won by the family as there is no living plaintiff with a damaged reputation. Gutter did, however, say that the family may attempt to prove Ye’s comments were intentional or reckless — a similar legal claim was recently levied against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who was ordered to pay $965 million to people who suffered from his false claim that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax.

“Unfortunately, the recent interview with Kanye West contained false and hurtful information regarding the circumstances surrounding the murder of George Floyd,” a spokesperson for Drink Champs told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. The episode has since been removed from podcast distribution platforms.

A few time after Ye signed a contract to buy the social media network Parler, the musician filed a lawsuit against him. The alternative social media network Parler, which bills itself as “the top worldwide free expression platform,” is well-liked among conservatives.

About three years after Harmony Montgomery went missing, the state’s top prosecutor revealed at a news conference on Monday that Adam Montgomery had been charged with second-degree murder, fabricating evidence, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with witnesses.

At a news conference on Monday, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said that Harmony Montgomery’s father, Adam, is suspected of hitting the young girl in the head with a closed fist on December 7, 2019, “recklessly causing the death of Harmony Montgomery, a person under the age of 13, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

In August, investigators said they would change the focus of their inquiry from a missing person to a homicide. They added that they think she was murdered in Manchester in 2019.

Adam Montgomery, the girl’s father, has already been in jail since January on suspicion of child abuse in connection with his daughter’s disappearance and the fruitless search for her. He shot a man in Massachusetts in 2014 and is a suspect in an unrelated cold case murder. He is also an ex-con and a heroin addict.

He is now accused of trying to convince his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, to believe his story in addition to allegedly killing his daughter, Formella said on Monday afternoon.

Last week, Adam Montgomery’s defense team filed a number of motions with Judge Amy Messer, alleging that a Manchester detective had violated his Miranda rights after his arrest. She only ordered that the portion of his interview that was conducted after the alleged violation be struck, partially granting a request to suppress his interview.

Adam Montgomery gave up his right to privacy when he told detectives the phone wasn’t his, according to Messer, who overruled a separate motion to suppress phone evidence.

Matthew Leatham, who has a tattoo of the Sunshine State on his forehead, is facing a felony battery charge after allegedly slicing up a friend with a razor, according to court records.

A witness told cops that Leatham, 24, and the male victim “engaged in a physical altercation after a verbal dispute over a cell phone” last month. During that 4:30 AM confrontation outside a gas station convenience store, the victim said, Leatham used a razor to cut him on his neck and leg.

A surveillance camera recorded Leatham chasing the victim, who is seen “holding a shirt to his neck to stop the bleeding from a slice wound.” The victim sustained “several lacerations to his person,” according to a criminal complaint, which noted that the man was transported to a hospital where the “injury to his neck required staples.”

In a police interview, Leatham reportedly copped to “removing a razor blade from his pocket and cutting the victim,” but claimed he was acting in self-defense. “There were no visible injuries to the defendant to support his claim of being attacked,” police reported.

Leatham was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felony, and booked into the Pasco County jail. He was later released on $10,000 bond. A judge has ordered Leatham to have no contact with the victim and has barred him from possessing any weapons.

Leatham pleaded no contest last year to marijuana possession and misuse of the 911 system. In a separate 2021 case, Leatham was busted for allegedly choking his mother. That felony case ended with a deferred prosecution, according to court records.

The recent complaint includes a section for police to describe the defendant’s “scars, marks, tattoos, etc.” An officer wrote, “Several, State of Florida tattoo on face.”

A purported sympathy card was given to the parents of one of the preterm kids by a British nurse who is suspected of killing seven of them.

At the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016, Lucy Letby, who is also charged with seven deaths and the attempted murder of ten additional newborns, confessed to sending the card to police, saying the behavior was “not typical.”

According to evidence, she admitted throughout her trial that she had a picture of the card on her phone. The nurse reportedly tried to murder the kid four times before succeeding on the third try before the card was delivered.

Prosecuting attorney Nick Johnson claimed that although the infant was doing fine up until Letby “put her hands on her,” that is when the infant started vomiting and having respiratory issues. According to The Daily Mail, he said, “It was relentless, it was calculated, and it was cold-blooded.”

Letby is accused of giving infants insulin injections, air or excessive milk feedings at night when the parents were away.

Johnson also showed the jury an image of a yellow Post-it note kept by Letby. He declared that she wrote, “I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough,” “I am a horrible evil person,” and in capital letters, “I AM EVIL I DID THIS.”

Johnson concluded, “Well, ladies and gentlemen, that in a nutshell is your task in this case. Whether or not she did these dreadful things is the decision you will have to make when you have heard all the evidence.”

A self-described “incel” who attempted to kill 3,000 women today pled guilty in federal court and now faces life in prison.

Tres Genco, 22, of Hillsboro, Ohio, acknowledged in a statement to spying on and targeting women at an Ohio university in 2020, according to the Department of Justice. He was detained after being taken into custody by federal law enforcement agents last year.

An “incel,” short for “involuntary celibate,” refers to a small group of men who harbor extreme anger and rage at women for what they believe in their minds as being rejected by them for romantic or sexual relationships.

“Thankfully, law enforcement partners working closely together prevented a deadly killing spree targeting women,” said Special Agent in Charge J. William Rivers for the FBI Cincinnati Field Division. “Genco’s hate-filled beliefs and actions were extremely dangerous and could have resulted in irreparable harm to our community and many precious lives. We urge the public to report concerning behavior to the FBI and local police to help prevent future violence.”

Genco said that he wanted to “slaughter” women “out of hatred, jealousy and revenge…” and referred to death as the “great equalizer.”

According to the DOJ, Genco wrote a letter indicating his intention to “aim large” during his terrorist act by killing up to 3,000 women.

Genco alluded to the day when another incel terrorist actually carried out his assault in 2014, murdering six people and wounding 14.

On the day that Genco composed his manifesto, he looked into the several sororities that met on the campus of an unnamed public university. In the year 2020, he also looked for information about how to commit “a gunshot crime” online on the day that he “conducted surveillance” at the university.

According to a recent article, actor Bill Murray has been accused of having improper sexual contact with a female staff member of a movie production earlier this year.

The anonymous lady was allegedly “straddled” and “kissed” by the 72-year-old actor last spring when they were filming “Being Mortal.” The “much younger” employee apparently couldn’t move because of his weight. According to The New York Post, witnesses claim Murray tried to kiss the staff member while they were both hiding their faces.

Murray allegedly made an effort to defend himself, but the complainant said she was “horrified” and “interpreted his behaviors as wholly sexual” despite this.

Murray had previously addressed the controversy after the film got shut down earlier this year. He called the sexual assault allegations a “difference of opinion.”

“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said in April, as The Daily Wire previously reported. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production.”

“And I feel like if I don’t see that, you know, the world is different than it was when I was a little kid,” he continued. “You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out.”

“And I think the most important thing is that it’s best for the other person. I thought about it, and if it’s not best for the other person, doesn’t matter what happens for me,” the comedian continued.

Immediately after the anonymous victim filed an official complaint, she and Murray agreed upon a settlement payment of more than $100,000.

Nissan declared on Tuesday that it will transfer all of its activities in Russia to a government organization.

The Japanese manufacturer revealed that NAMI, a Russian government organization committed to the growth of the automobile sector, is expected to buy the firm’s operations in the country as hostilities between Ukraine and Russia rise ahead of the winter months. Nissan has the opportunity to repurchase its activities during the next six years, but will lose $100 billion, or $686 million, if the firm is sold for €1.

“On behalf of Nissan, I thank our Russian colleagues for their contribution to the business over many years,” Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida remarked in a statement. “While we cannot continue operating in the market, we have found the best possible solution to support our people.”

Nissan does not anticipate any market action over the course of the fiscal year, so it does not expect the sale to have an impact on its full-year profits outlook.

According to a Yale School of Management research, over 1,000 Western corporations have declared that they are reducing their business in Russia beyond what is needed by international sanctions. Among the American corporations that have abandoned the country are Nike, Goldman Sachs, Apple, IBM, and McDonald’s.

The revelation comes as it seems like hostilities between Russia and Ukraine have risen. Earlier this week, 83 missiles were fired into Ukrainian cities, some of which hit the nation’s capital, Kyiv, where at least eight people were killed and where President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office building was hit. A recent bombing of the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea to mainland Russia, believed to be the cause of the coordinated attack. A part of the bridge fell into the Sea of Azov as a result of the attack, which was directed at fuel cells along the route.

Eight years ago, in a very contentious action that featured nuclear threats and a stepped-up military presence, Russia seized the Crimean peninsula. Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, accused Ukraine of harming the civilian population in response to the collapse of the bridge.

“There is no doubt,” he said. “This is an act of terrorism aimed at destroying critically important civilian infrastructure.”

A soon to be ex-top Pfizer executive admitted to European lawmakers on Monday that it’s COVID vaccine was never tested to see if it stopped transmission. This raises new concerns about the global campaign to force people to receive the shots.

The startling remark was made by Janine Small, head of Pfizer’s worldwide developed markets, during testimony before the European Union Parliament. Rob Roos, a member of the European Union parliament, questioned her about whether the manufacturer had tested their mRNA vaccine to limit transmission before releasing it.

“If not, please say it clearly,” Roos said. “If yes, are you willing to share the data with this committee? And I really want a straight answer, yes or no, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Pfizer didn’t have enough time to determine if their vaccine would stop the spread of COVID, according to Small, who was called to speak after Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla withdrew.

“We had to really move at the speed of science to really understand what is taking place in the market, and from that point of view we had to do everything at risk,” Small said. “I think Dr. Bourla, even though he’s not here, would turn around and say to you himself, ‘If not us then who?’”

“I find this to be shocking, even criminal,” Roos said.

The Dutch representative, Roos, then tweeted a clip of Small’s response and said it demonstrated the deception behind the worldwide push for mandatory vaccinations to protect others.

“Millions of people worldwide felt forced to get vaccinated because of the myth that ‘you do it for others’,” he said in the video, which has been viewed more than eight million times. “Now this turned out to be a cheap lie. This should be exposed.”
