As the number of COVID-related deaths in the United State passes 300,000 this week House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that masks would be required for every member in the chamber.
The House Speaker said that while on the floor members would not be acknowledged if they were not wearing the proper face coverings and if a member were to remove their mask while speaking they would not be allowed to continue speaking until putting the mask over their nose and mouth.
Since Wyoming recently issued a face mask requirement thirty-eight states now have their own mask mandates in place, including the District of Columbia. Each state is allowed to enforce its own restrictions as they see fit to keep residents safe.
While there is no uniform requirement for the nation as a whole President-elect Joe Biden has suggested that he would ask Americans throughout the United States to wear face coverings for 100 days beginning on his first day in office.
Biden has indicated that he is willing to work with every state and their local leaders to encourage them to enforce mask mandates.
