A woman called in a false bomb threat this week when she arrived at the airport in Fort Lauderdale too late to board the flight.
Marina Verbitsky, 46, along with her husband and child arrived late at the gate too late to board their flight out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday night.
“She became very angry because they were not allowed to board the plane,” according to the Broward County arrest reports. “She was using profanities toward the employees and when she was notified the plane was taxiing to the runway with her checked luggage she stated there was a bomb in her luggage.”
The plane, which was already on the runway, had to be rerouted and evacuated so that the Broward Sheriff’s Office threat management unit could inspect the plane.
Verbitsky is accused of telling airport employees a bomb was in her checked luggage after arriving at her gate too late to board the plane.
After a thorough inspection, the threat was determined to be unfounded. Verbitsky was arrested and is facing one count of false reporting concerning planting a bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction.
This is the second bomb threat at the Fort Lauderdale-Airport in just three months.
