Former male Olympian, transgender Caitlyn Jenner said that University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas should not \u201cbe able to compete\u201d in the NCAA.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom my standpoint, the immediate thing to do is I don\u2019t think she should be able to compete at the highest level in the NCAA,\u201d Jenner said Friday.<\/p>\n

Sixteen members of the university\u2019s women\u2019s swim team sent a letter to the school that said their transgender teammate \u201cshould not be allowed to compete in the collegiate championship next month.\u201d The letter argued Thomas has an \u201cunfair advantage\u201d over the competition in the women\u2019s category.<\/p>\n

The former Olympian said that she respects Lia Thomas\u2019 \u201cright to live her life authentically,\u201d however Jenner agreed that when it comes to \u201cfairness,\u201d \u201cbiological boys should not compete against women.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to protect women\u2019s sports,\u201d adding that the NCAA\u2019s rules on testosterone levels do not work.<\/p>\n

\u201cLia Thomas in her event as a guy, she was ranked 462 in the world,\u201d the former gubernatorial candidate of California said. \u201cAs a woman, she\u2019s ranked number one in the world, so obviously it\u2019s not working. So, they need to change the rules. Well, they [NCAA] kicked the can down the road a few weeks ago and said that the governing bodies are going to make the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUSA swimming came in and actually came in with a lot tougher rules on testosterone levels that have to be more comparable to what a woman has, and I think that\u2019s a good thing,\u201d Jenner added. \u201cSo Lia Thomas may not be able to compete in the NCAA, we will see, but it\u2019s the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenner said it\u2019s simply not fair for Thomas to compete at this level.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom my standpoint, the immediate thing to do is, I don\u2019t think she should be able to compete at the highest level in the NCAA,\u201d Jenner explained. \u201cI just don\u2019t think it\u2019s fair.
