The suspected shooter that killed eight people then himself last week was captured in a chilling video that morning as he left for work.
Samuel Cassidy can be seen in surveillance footage standing outside his house around 5:40 that morning wearing his safety clothing, a hat, and a mask as he loads what appears to be a large duffel bag into the passenger side of his white pickup truck. Cassidy then moves around to the driver’s side, gets into the truck, and drives away.
The security footage was taken by a camera at the home of Dough Suh, who lives across the street from Cassidy.
Police say it was no more than one hour later when Cassidy began his shooting rampage at the light rail facility for the Valley Transportation Authority where he works in San Jose.
According to authorities, Cassidy killed nine people before turning the gun on himself and pulling the trigger.
Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said Cassidy also may have set a timer device to set his home on fire. Reports of the fire came in minutes after the first 911 calls came in from the rail facility.
So far there is no known motive for the shooting.
