A Pennsylvania couple has been charged with murder after their 3-month-old infant died from fentanyl toxicity, the Washington County District Attorney announced Monday.
On Aug. 11, Police responded to a call about a 3-month-old infant girl who was not breathing at a home.
The baby was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Officers found 31-year-old James May and 23-year-old Shannon McKnight in the rafters of an attic on Aug 19, where they were arrested.
The district attorney said toxicology results showed fentanyl in the infant’s blood.
The couple’s 16-month-old son was also taken to the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where cocaine and fentanyl were found in his system.
Police reports show fentanyl and cocaine, and drug paraphernalia was found in the family house.
Both May and McKnight were already facing charges of felony child endangerment and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
